One of my favourite sports is badminton. I have played for many years and enjoyed my local club very much. Some player of this club are very advanced. We have a NSW Youth Champion and regular visits by a former NSW Champion (his brother plays at the club).
I self-rank my self as Grade B. For years, I admire people who can puck up a shuttlecock from floor using a racket. I feel shamed to try in front of others. So I take a very simple approach, picking up by hand.
Last week, I searched Youtube to try if there are video tutorials. Not luck. So, I do my own practice. I tried on my floor in Living area and kitchen. After a few days of naive practice, I am glade I make a bit progress. I will take a few photo shots to share folks. The basic tips are:
- touch the wooden head of a shuttle with a vertical racket
- gently flip the racket head to collect the shuttle and lift up
- most importantly, be patent and do more practice
