The new features of gnome 3 in fedora 15 is very annoying. Here are some nice tips to fix most illness.

yum install gnome-tweak-tool
start /usr/bin/gnome-tweak-tool
File Manager => Have file manager handle desktop =>ON
Have Minimise,Maximise button
sudo yum install gconf-editor
/usr/bin/gconf-editor
desktop.gnome.shell.windows change key
button-layout to “:minimize,maximize,close”

Unfortunately it does not answer the question of why this sort of thing is at all necessary to make a default WM/DE tolerable.
(I know, I know, Gnome3 is new, and it will get better, just like KDE did when that project dropped a bomb a while back…)
Here’s hoping that Gnome3 achieves a powerful, intuitive, discoverable default version in the near future (by 3.2, dammit!).
