Nowadays, the home broadband package generally includes free iptv. I have TGP with a few free iptv channels. here are s few steps to play iptv with vlc on linux system(Fedora 14)
1 configure your modem, I use instruction for Netcomm NBS5Plus4W. tgp listed a number of supported modem and instruction
2 install vlc
sudo yum install vlc vlc-*
3 configure vlc
Media->Steaming
click Network tab and type in the url http://avenard.org/iptv/playlist-tpg-vlc.m3u and select play
play and enjoy
You can simply play is at commond line as
Click on the red button to record program.
